More info

Children naturally know how to play, imagine, and create. Yet, along the way, we sometimes forget to trust our own inner voice. These activities are designed to offer children a source of strength through creativity. A safe and joyful space to explore, experiment, and express themselves.

“Expressing creativity is a source of strength”

Every session is tailor-made, inspired by the environment, the group, and the moment. The focus is not on results, but on discovery, curiosity, and playful imagination.

Creativity connects us to ourselves and what we deeply desire. Just as reading a new book, dancing to a favorite song, or sitting in the sun can be a source of strength, children learn to find that same grounding through artistic play.

What if we could teach the new generation how to continue to trust their own ideas and feelings? That is the heart of our Kids Activities: offering safe, joyful, and inspiring spaces where children can explore, express, and create freely.

What will we do?

Drawing or painting, sometimes inventing stories, building with recycled materials, or designing something completely new. Here some examples:

A crafty magic experiment. “What leaf shape does a beetroot have?” I love children’s creative freedom, but also the ability to empower their individuality through fun and creation. We look at the shapes of plants and are going to create our own garden. We start with warm-up exersizes where they find ways to use shapes and colours. Each kid may create their own plant. How quickly the time flies by.

An easy low-key activity where everyone can just answer the question by a drawing: “Draw your source of power. What cheers you up to draw, for in times that you need to see this drawing? “

We’re gonna make a self-portret inspirated by the cubism style la Picasso, but than from cardboard. We cut, we paint and we play. To provide direction there are pre-printed and pre-fabricated cardboard parts available.

Inspired by a children’s book “The cheer-up bird” About a bird that loses it’s feathers while bringing everybody joy. We are gonna clay a happy bird with clay and feathers to give a clear goal. The way the children wants the bird to be like. So first they just got to get to know the material. After all: what else can you make with colorfull feathers and clay?

Create your own four-legged toy made by material of waste. For example: we use bottle caps for the feet. Some steps in the process need concentration and precision. A workshop that shows you can make anything from ‘nothing’.

Testimonial

"I had the pleasure of working with Kristel during her workshops for children at De Vrolijkheid, Centre for Asylum Seekers, Gilze. She did an absolutely fantastic job! Kristel designed and facilitated beautiful workshop series that combined various artistic disciplines, including both 2D and 3D work.

Her creativity, dedication, and ability to engage children in meaningful artistic experiences were truly inspiring. The children were delighted to work with her, and so were we at De Vrolijkheid. I can highly recommend Kristel for any project involving creativity, education, and working with diverse groups."
